Publication Support Services

Welcome!

If you are looking for support in getting your amazing insights about parenting students into the world, you will find it here. SPARK is a place to start, shape, or hone your scholarship and to find community in the sometimes lonely and confusing world of publishing.

SPARK's Publication Support Services (PSS) combines several aspects of the Collaborative’s mission by providing direct support to emerging scholars and practitioners who want to publish their research and amplify their ideas across multiple readerships.

Purpose

Publications Support Services mentors emerging scholars and practitioners who want to publish their work across parenting and caregiving scholarship and spaces. Our consultation sessions and collaborative workshops will create a community of readers and writers who will support and advance a pipeline of interdisciplinary tools, research, and resources focused on parenting student policies and experiences.

Philosophy

SPARK's Publication Support Services team views writing and research as iterative processes that are strengthened by a community of informed peers with varied perspectives and supportive mentorship to navigate publication. We understand that sharing our writing with others can create vulnerability and be intimidating and difficult, particularly with people we don’t know well. Therefore, we aim to create workshops grounded in empathetic and constructive feedback, as well as consultation sessions tailored to the needs of each writer, meeting them exactly where they are in the writing and publication process.

Leadership

Publication Support Services sessions are led by Dr. Renee Ryberg and Dr. Anne Hofmann, who have extensive experience across qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research focused on parenting students, as well as mentoring and teaching a variety of writing forms for various audiences.

What's our process?

If you are interested in either publishing through SPARK or using our services to support your writing, please follow these steps to get started:

  1. Scroll down and submit an interest form! Feel free to attach a draft of a piece you are considering for publication, though this is not mandatory. We will help you at any point in the writing and publication process.
  2. Look out for an email from a member of the Publication Support Services committee to set up an initial conversation to discern how we can best support you within two weeks of submission.
  3. Work with us to set up a plan based on your goals, during which we will help troubleshoot any concerns you have.
  4. Consider connecting with other writers working in a similar area through reading and writing circles.
  5. Watch for SPARK workshops designed to get you started in writing and publishing!
