Alyssa C. Callender is a single parent to a young son. She earned her MS in prevention science through the University of Oregon and will soon enter its special education PhD program. She is a nontraditional student by most definitions, who also carries lived experience related to interpersonal violence and is committed to prevent transgenerational trauma. Her academic expertise focuses on nontraditional families (i.e., single parent households, domestic violence-ridden households, special needs parents and children, and military families). Alyssa is committed to improving how we treat one another and advocates deconstructing systemic barriers for vulnerable families.
