We are excited to announce our newest fellows -- Eileen Chanti and Kevin Relf, who will be supporting the Oregon Child Care project.
The Oregon Child Care STAR Fellows join an Urban-Child Trends research team to explore how colleges can help student parents meet their child care needs in Oregon and beyond. Fellows will contribute to interviews, a landscape scan, and convening subject-matter experts to develop insights that will inform college and state efforts to improve child care access as student parents pursue their education goals.
Kevin Relf is a dedicated student at Lane Community College who will be transferring to the University of Oregon to pursue a Bachelor's Degree at the School of Planning, Public Policy and Management. He brings unique perspectives as a student parent, along with a wide array of management, communication, and leadership skills. As a STAR Fellow, Kevin is excited to make new connections, develop leadership and data skills, and gain more experience in public policy.
Eileen Chanti is a doctoral student in Human Development and Family Science at Oregon State University. Broadly, her research focuses on inequality, social policy, children and family wellbeing, and education. Eileen is passionate about putting research to action and aims to promote policies that support and strengthen families from a generational perspective. She holds a master’s degree in teaching with a focus on urban education and teacher leadership from the University of Chicago and leverages a decade’s worth of work in social services and education to inform her research.
