How can we ensure student parents — and all students with caregiving responsibilities — thrive in postsecondary education and beyond? Join Ascend at the Aspen Institute for a powerful conversation with leaders building better systems not just for students, but whole families. This session will highlight promising practices and bold insights from partners in the Postsecondary Leadership Circle Activation Fund (PLCAF), a catalytic initiative designed to support higher education leaders working to transform their campuses and policies to support whole-family well-being and economic mobility.
We’ll hear directly from campus and community champions who are putting student parents at the center of their institutional design. Speakers include Student Parents Chealsea Zavala and Alisha Small, as well as Dr. William Serrata, President of El Paso Community College; and Superintendent-President Mike Muñoz of Long Beach City College. Together, they will share lessons learned, opportunities for scale, and how institutions can create a culture of belonging – and success.
