Postsecondary Pathways, Empowering Student Success, Part 2: Postsecondary Attainment for Single Mothers

Nearly 10% of all U.S. undergraduate students are single mothers, facing unique barriers like time poverty, financial strain, and limited childcare access, all of which impact their college completion rates. Despite strong academic potential, only 11% of single mothers enrolled in an associate degree program finish within six years. This webinar will explore how ECMC Foundation’s Single Mother Student Success Initiative is increasing degree attainment by addressing the needs and priorities of single mothers through targeted support systems. Panelists will discuss strategies such as building institutional capacity, forming community partnerships, and raising public awareness to support these students. Join us to learn how colleges, community organizations, and policymakers can collaborate to create equitable pathways for single mothers in higher education.
