Family Friendly Tribal and Rural Campuses: Learn from Tribal Colleges and Universities Building Support for Student Caregivers

Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) have long been innovators in holistic, community-centered education—offering powerful lessons for rural and nontribal campuses alike. This one-hour webinar will highlight how TCUs are leading the way in supporting student caregivers and strengthening campus communities. Through partnerships among TCUs, the American Indian College Fund, the Urban Institute, and PERG Learning, participants will hear from Salish Kootenai College, Turtle Mountain College, and Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe University about how they are using the Family-Friendly Campus Toolkit and related tools to identify student caregivers, align supports across campus and community partners, and create family-friendly, culturally grounded environments where all students can thrive.

Designed for both toolkit users and those new to this work, the session will offer practical examples and inspiration from TCUs that are modeling inclusive, place-based approaches to student success. Attendees will gain insights and actionable strategies that any rural or community-focused institution can adapt to build stronger supports for student parents and caregivers.
